As Senior Associate Director, Kathy works collaboratively on general operations, staffing and staff development, strategic planning, budgeting, campus recruiting, and employer and alumni relations with the CDO team, and leads in these key areas:
Kathy advises incoming and returning students, as well as alumni and PhD candidates. She has thirteen years of experience in master's and PhD-level career services at Yale, the last eight at F&ES. For five years, she coordinated on-campus recruiting for Graduate Career Services, bringing nonacademic career opportunities to PhD candidates in over 70 degree programs.
Kathy has a breadth of knowledge of green, sustainability and environment-related careers, and expertise in resume, cover letter, personal statement writing, networking, job search research and salary negotiations. Kathy is a certified practitioner of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Assessment. She is an alumna of the NACE Management Leadership Institute and the NACE Career Coach Program, and trained as a federal career advisor through the Partnership for Public Service.
Kathy is a member of NetImpact!, the National Career Development Association, and the National Association of Colleges and Employers. She has lived in New Haven for 24 years and is founding neighbor of the Nash Street Community Park, a project supported by URI. She holds two master of fine arts degrees, one in Museum Studies from Syracuse University and one in Creative Writing and Literature from Bennington College.
