Gillian Bloomfield is the Associate Director of Online Programs at the Environmental Leadership & Training Initiative (ELTI). She holds a Master of Forest Science from the Yale School of the Environment, where her studies focused on tropical forest ecology and restoration in human-modified landscapes. She also earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Spanish and the interdisciplinary Biology & Society program from Cornell University. She specializes in synthesizing scientific findings and facilitating knowledge exchange among diverse audiences through the design of online and blended (online and field) courses.
Bloomfield joined the ELTI team in 2010 to develop the Tropical Restoration Library and launched ELTI’s online training program in 2011. For nearly 15 years, she has overseen the design and delivery of ELTI's online programs, including a suite of online and blended short courses delivered in multiple languages and the Tropical Forest Landscapes online certificate program. These world-class online programs are renowned for their innovative approach to capacity development and for engaging environmental professionals across more than 75 countries.
