Associate Research Scientist; Senior Scientist, Environmental Defense Fund
I am a Senior Scientist at Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) and an Associate Research Scientist at Yale School of the Environment.
My expertise lies in soil ecological processes related to soil organic matter and nutrient cycling. My research has traced a course from basic questions related to processes of soil organic matter formation and stabilization occurring at the scale of a soil microbe to applied questions occurring at the landscape and global scale of how managing for soil organic matter can potentially increase yields while decreasing inputs like nitrogen fertilizer. As a scientist at Environmental Defense Fund, I have focused on accelerating and supporting research that aims to build a stronger scientific foundation and improve standards of evidence to support agriculture’s role in helping to mitigate and adapt to climate change.
