    Abstract

Throughout this volume, we have argued that short-term, narrowly focused technical interventions will be insufficient to address the governance and constitutive problems that resource management practitioners face today. We are not alone in coming to this realization. There is a growing community of resource management professionals who are seeking more integrative and holistic approaches to conservation. This volume presents a set of techniques and conceptual models for engaging in contextually sensitive, integrative problem solving. It is our hope that readers of the volume will become part of the cadre of professionals who will play key leadership roles in ongoing efforts to find common interest solutions to large-scale conservation problems.
