Financing and Deploying Clean Energy
As director of Impact Advisory Practice, a development advisory firm that works across the African continent, Kuziva Huni has helped mobilize millions of dollars in philanthropic funding and impact investment for clean energy projects. Bringing in investment for this sector is critical given the significant obstacles to the clean energy transition facing Africa.
Fossil fuel dependence, energy inefficiency, and climate change vulnerability all impact health, education, and economic development and make it difficult for countries to pivot to cleaner energy without adequate financial and policy support, said Huni, who has nearly a decade of experience in sustainable development and energy consulting across sub-Saharan Africa.
“These challenges inspired me to work toward solutions that not only address the energy needs of today, but also create a sustainable, climate-resilient energy future for Africa,” she said. “I am driven by the belief that with the right investments, policy frameworks, and capacity-building efforts, Africa can lead a transformative energy transition that promotes both economic development and environmental sustainability.”
Huni, who has a bachelor’s in social science, a post-graduate diploma in management from the University of Cape Town, and an MBA from the African Leadership University, is pursuing the Financing and Deploying Clean Energy certificate to build new networks and gain a deeper understanding of the policy and financial mechanisms behind clean energy projects.
“The program offers a global perspective on financing mechanisms, policy frameworks, and innovative models that can be adapted to local contexts, especially in Africa. It will equip me with the tools and perspectives to advocate for, and deploy, clean energy projects that support the continent’s sustainable development goals,” she said.
