Veronique Bourg-Meyer

Vero Bourg-Meyer is the Program Director for Clean Energy at the Yale Center for Business and the Environment. In this capacity, she leads the clean energy programming of the center. She creates and disseminates knowledge using a variety of online approaches and media, with a specific focus on energy policy and climate, and activates networks by developing purpose-driven communities within and outside of Yale. 

She leads the strategy, growth, design, development, and marketing of climate-related online programs at CBEY, including the Clean and Equitable Energy Development program together with colleagues at the Yale Center for Environmental Justice.

Along with a dedicated delivery team, she manages the Financing and Deploying Clean Energy program, a joint YSE/SOM online certificate program offered to 160 working professionals in the clean energy sector, with a mission to accelerate the deployment of clean energy with an eye to equity.

Vero leads the development of the Yale Clean Energy Collaborative, an effort to integrate clean energy communication and strategy across campus through the development and operationalization of a large stakeholder network among schools and departments.

Together with CBEY colleagues, she oversees the editorial content of the Clean Energy Finance Forum and the development of co-curricular activities for the clean energy community, like the What The Heck Do I Actually Do series, an upcoming event series on energy justice, and Yale’s Clean Energy Conference. She is the executive producer of the Yale Clean Energy Future podcast. 

Prior to CBEY, Vero developed curriculum material with the Case Study Research and Development Team at the Yale School of Management, for use at Yale and throughout the Global Network for Advanced Management. Her research and writing covered a broad range of topics, from clean energy finance to nonprofit management, to HR, and competitive strategy. In that role, she interviewed and engaged with industry and academics globally, and collaborated with film crews and multimedia producers to create online content.

After a career as an infrastructure finance and development lawyer, she graduated from the Yale School of the Environment in 2015 with a focus on environmental policy and communication. There, she assisted the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s Waste Engineering and Enforcement Division with lifecycle assessment modeling of the state's waste and recycling system, with a specific focus on the climate and health impacts of waste streams, and with the recommissioning efforts of energy facilities. 

Prior to Yale, Vero practiced law, successively at international law firms Gide Loyrette Nouel and Hogan Lovells, with a focus on the development and financing of large-scale infrastructure and public-private partnerships in emerging markets. Drafting and negotiating the whole range of project finance documentation, Vero advised governments, multilateral financial institutions, and private sector clients, on structuring about $5.5 billion worth of infrastructure investments throughout Sub-Saharan Africa, North Africa, and North-East Asia.

She has also advised small conservation nonprofits on forest fragmentation issues and land use in Vermont. Among other places, she’s lived in New Haven, Beijing, Ulaanbaatar, Paris, Los Angeles, Montpelier, and Philadelphia. Vero is a member of the New York bar and the Paris bar.

When not working, she can be found roaming the mountains in Vermont, on foot or on skis, with her family.
