As an aspiring ecologist, I am primarily interested in the structure and function of the natural world. I view the natural world as a system of interacting elements, whose relationships can be teased out with the help of careful observation and mathematical theory. The almost infinite complexity of ecosystems is part of what makes ecology so fascinating to me. I am partly motivated by the belief that a greater understanding and appreciation for ecosystem dynamics will aid our struggle with environmental issues of all scales.
