Gai Doran is Director of Research in the School of Forestry & Environmental Studies.  Her career as a research Program Administrator and Organizational Manager, in Australia and in the United States, has been primarily in academic settings, including the National Earth Observation Group, the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization, Quinnipiac University, and the Center for Interdisciplinary Research on AIDS (CIRA) in the Yale School of Public Health.  Her expertise lies primarily in supporting researchers in preparing proposals for submission to U.S. federal and non-U.S. government sponsors.  Ms. Doran has a strong interest in encouraging inter-institutional global research collaborations.  In 2016 she was selected as the NCURA/SARIMA Global Fellow to South Africa where she met with research managers and faculty at the University of Witwatersrand, exchanging best practices of research support; in 2017 she was a panelist at the 14th Conference of the Association of African Universities, held in Accra, Ghana, discussing the role of higher education in supporting research and innovation; and in June 2018 presented at the International Network of Research Management Societies, in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Ms. Doran holds a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership from Quinnipiac University, and a Master of Science in Research Administration from Rush University's College of Health Sciences.
