Two members of the faculty at the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies, Oswald Schmitz and Liza Comita, have been named Fellows of the Ecological Society of America (ESA).
Schmitz, the Oastler Professor of Population and Community Ecology, was named Fellow, an honorary lifelong title given to a select number of members recognized by their peers as distinguished for their contributions to the discipline.
Comita, an Assistant Professor of Tropical Forest Management, was named an Early Career Fellow, which recognizes and honors early career ESA members for their contributions and potential contributions to the discipline. Early Career Fellows are elected to a five-year term.
The Ecological Society of America is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization of scientists founded in 1915. Its more than 10,000 members conduct research, teach, and use ecological science to address a broad range of environmental issues.
