The Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies on Sunday, Sept. 17 will host former French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius during the inaugural Yale Environmental Dialogue (YED).
Fabius, who was chair of the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference, or COP21, in Paris, the historic international forum that produced the Paris Agreement.
The event will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday in Burke Auditorium, Kroon Hall. Doors will open at 10:30 a.m. A light brunch will be served.
During the conversation, which will be moderated by Dan Esty, Hillhouse Professor of Environmental Law and Policy, Fabius will reflecton the Paris Agreement and discuss how the global community can maintain its momentum.
Rather than an extended speech, the event will be organized as a conversation with emphasis on discussion through questions and answers.
The Yale Environmental Dialogue is an initiative conceived during F&ES’s recent strategic planning process. Building on the School’s international standing as a respected source of environmental knowledge and leadership, the series aims to convene thought leaders and decision makers around critical issues related to sustainability. YED forums will address complex and controversial issues, bringing together experts and bipartisan professionals, public officials, civil society leaders and other stakeholders. Ultimately the events will culminate in publishable products to inform solutions.
