New Doctoral Students Guide

Welcome Incoming Doctoral Class of 2023!

This website is intended to acquaint you with some of the resources available to you within your home department, the Yale School of the Environment (YSE).

The YSE Doctoral Program Office works with the Yale Graduate School of Arts and Sciences to administer the Ph.D. program. Please feel free to contact us at any time with questions or concerns: Peter Raymond, Professor of Ecosystem Ecology, Senior Associate Dean of Research, and Director of Doctoral Studies; Sara Smiley-Smith, Ph.D., Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs, Research and Sustainability; and Elisabeth Barsa, Doctoral Program Coordinator.

By now you should have visited the Yale Graduate School’s website for new students for very important information, like dates and deadlines, and for Graduate School orientation events. Please check their site regularly for updates.

Your student profile: as a YSE student you have the opportunity to edit your own profile in the myYSE school directory. Your myYSE profile is used internally at the school, so that the faculty and staff can put a face with your name. You can update it whenever you like.

We look forward to welcoming you in August!
