North American Drylands: Ecology and Land Use
Spring 2020: M,W, 9:00-10:20, Sage 32
The first half of the course consists of lectures about the causes of the geographic distribution of North American drylands and their ecology. The second half consists of reading and discussing scientific papers about past, present, and future land use. Students lead the discussions. While we cover the breadth of drylands, in the second half we emphasize ecosystems in which big sagebrush is the dominant plant species.
