Environmental Diplomacy Practicum
This course aims at experiential learning of environmental and sustainable development issues at the United Nations through reading, discussion, observing UN meetings and interaction with UN diplomats, officials of international agencies and civil society representatives. The objective is to enable students to develop a better understanding and realistic assessment of multilateral decision-making processes on the substantive issues. A key focus this semester will be placed on the recently adopted climate agreement, the 21st
UNFCCC Conference of the Parties and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Students will demonstrate their understanding in an end of term paper.
Requires several Friday field trips.
