EQUID Student Coordinator Job Description

The Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies office of Community and Inclusion is currently seeking student assistants to support YSE justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) initiatives. The EQUID Student Committee is a paid position for a student led group who work closely with the Office of Community and Inclusion. EQUID Students are the ambassadors of the YSE Community, and help plan and design programs that further enhance diversity, equity and inclusion efforts at YSE.
Students are tasked with assisting the Assistant Dean and Assistant Director for Community and Inclusion in the areas of community outreach, communications, event planning, hosting forums, public meetings research, and creating a safe space for underrepresented groups. The EQUID Student Committee encourages leadership, which enable students to be a positive force within the YSE Community.
EQUID students will solicit input and feedback from their peers, staff, and faculty; collect ideas on effective inclusion and equity programming; communicate and collaborate with peers in similar positions throughout the University; and cultivate materials and relationships that will help to foster the School’s community and inclusion goals. In all of this, they will have strong support from the School’s EQUID Committee, on which they will serve as members. The Schools EQUID Committee consists of faculty, staff and students who all share similar goals with promoting diversity, equity and inclusion at YSE.
Ideally, the assistants will possess great leadership skills, and be a self-starter with excellent writing and interpersonal skills. Proven strength in communications, working with diverse populations, have experience with community outreach/organization and commit to working from September 2020 to May of 2021. Students will report to the Yolanda Quiñones, Assistant Director of Strategic Initiatives & Community and Inclusion.
