Plans for Commencement remain subject to change based on developments locally, statewide, and nationally, as well as changes in university policy. Regalia

Regalia orders for the May 23 ceremony are currently open and will remain open until April 12. After April 12 there is a $10 late fee. Orders can be placed through SIS. After logging into the Main Menu, click on Commencement Menu, then Order Cap and Gown and follow instructions. Orders will be ready for pick-up May 19 through the morning of May 23. Commencement Announcements

Share and celebrate the accomplishment of graduation with family and friends! Order the official graduation announcement of Yale University, which features the university shield engraved in blue on an off-white card. The inside text is printed in blue, is available to be personalized with the student’s name and degree or degrees expected. Online ordering is now available.

Dining in New Haven

Following the YSE Ceremony there will be an optional grab and go luncheon to enjoy with guests. Oftentimes though graduates make plans to eat at one of New Haven’s great restaurants. We recommend you make your reservations early! For the most up to date dining information go here.

FAQs

Are guests allowed to attend Commencement at Old Campus and YSE?
Yes, graduates are welcome to bring guests to both ceremonies (Old Campus and YSE). Please note, all guests must be up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations to attend. Children five and under are exempt from this and are welcome to attend. Please watch for future messages about additional arrangement or requirements, as necessary, based on public health conditions. 

Are tickets required for graduates and guests? 
Tickets are not required for graduates and their guests for the ceremony at Old Campus as well as YSE’s ceremony.

Will masks be required? 
Facemasks are optional but encouraged and will be available for anyone who needs one. Please turn here for Yale’s guidance on masking.

What is the suggested attire? 
Weather in Connecticut during the month of May can be a bit unpredictable. It can be sunny and warm, or rainy and cool. We suggest you check the weather often as the date nears and plan accordingly. We highly suggest you wear comfortable shoes as there will be a lot of walking. Please note, bags 12 x 12 and larger will not be allowed at Old Campus.

Are we able to attend Yale’s Class Day? 
Yes, Yale College Class Day, on Sunday, May 22, is open to all May 2022 graduates, G&P students included. Class Day begins at 2:00pm at Old Campus and tickets are not required. G&P graduates generally attend the first portion of the event which is dedicated to the Class Speaker, and then leave afterwards as the programming is geared towards undergraduate academic and athletic awards. 

What if it rains? 
Commencement happens rain or shine, so dress accordingly! The Office of Student Affairs will have ponchos on hand for graduates!

What time do I need to arrive on Commencement Day and where do I go?
Graduates should arrive dressed in their regalia and decorated caps between 8:30am-8:45am. Please come directly to Kroon Hall. A light breakfast will be available. 

How do I order Regalia?
Regalia may be placed online through SIS. The deadline to order is April 12. More information can be found here. Please note, if you have a robe or cap from a previous graduation, you are welcome to use. Ordered Regalia will be available for pick-up May 18 through the morning of May 23 – more information on pick-up can be found here.

Will food and drink be available?
Following the YSE Ceremony there will be a grab and go luncheon for graduates and their guests. No tickets are required.

How do I request special accommodations for a guest? 
For accommodations specific to the ceremony on Old Campus, please go here. For accommodations specific to the YSE ceremony, please email Alyssa Pereira directly. 

I won’t be participating in Commencement; how do I get my diploma?
Following Commencement in May, students who did not receive their diploma at the YSE Commencement ceremony may request mailing or pick up at the University Registrar. Please complete the Diploma Order Form to submit a mailing/pick up request. If you prefer to pick up the diploma, please indicate a date and time in the Additional Comments  section. Diplomas will be available for pickup on May 31, 2022. Identification must be shown when picking up a diploma. May 2022 diplomas will be mailed out after July 1, 2022.
