This fully online program is designed to be flexible with your work schedules and commitments. You should expect to spend 5-7 hours per week on the different types of course materials. While most of the material will be provided asynchronously, there will be a scheduled weekly 1.25-hour synchronous session with all online learners.
All courses within the certificate and each of their modules will be delivered online through Canvas, a user-friendly online education platform. All lectures, readings, and assignments will be made available to participants on Canvas. Synchronous portions and the hybrid conference will use video-conferencing software such as Zoom or Teams.
The entirety of the course will take place virtually, thus allowing participants of the certificate program to apply and participate from around the world. There will be a hybrid conference at the end of the program, held at the Yale University School of the Environment that provides an option of in-person interactions. (Travel costs are not included in the tuition.)
Faculty members and experts from the Yale School of the Environment and other academic institutions and private companies will present key concepts, introduce each week, attend live discussions and advise participants throughout the program. GCCS mentors and international guests also make contributions to the program.
Online learners will have access to the teaching team through two primary points of access. The first are the recorded lectures and readings that students will have access to each week. The second includes appearances at weekly online sessions with the entire cohort of online learners in which relevant faculty will attend.
Your login will give you unlimited access to the program platforms, recorded lectures, case studies, readings, articles, and more.
You will not need to purchase any additional materials. All readings will be made available via our online platform Canvas in the form of PDF documents that are downloadable to your device or via open access journal links.
All that is technologically required to successfully participate in this program is a stable internet connection and equipment to stream lectures, access Canvas, participate in synchronous meetings and complete assignments.
