CBEY Program Director: Clean Energy Finance, Conservation Finance and Online Education

 The Yale Center for Business and the Environment (CBEY) has developed a wide range of new programs, professional resources and curriculum to meet the needs of graduate students and working professionals in clean energy, clean energy finance and conservation finance. As student and professional interest and activity in these areas continue to accelerate, we are seeking a full-time program manager at the Center to expand the reach and impact of our work. This program manager will have three main areas of the focus (1) to launch and deliver a new online professional certificate program in financing and deploying clean energy (2) to lead and coordinate CBEY’s existing programs in clean energy and conservation finance and (3) to serve as the lead staff member at CBEY for our work on clean energy and conservation finance with students on campus.

Key Responsibilities of the Position
  • The program manager will lead the design, development, coordination; marketing and delivery of a new one-year, online professional certificate program in financing and deploying clean energy. In this role, the program manager will be required to,
  • Work in close collaboration with a lead faculty member and the executive director of CBEY to develop content and exercises, ensure cohesion between courses, outline critical skills and knowledge outcomes, develop metrics to evaluate the program
  • Serve as the key facilitator and coach for the faculty and external experts to design, record and edit lectures at the Yale Broadcast Studio. In this capacity, the program manager would work closely with dedicated staff from the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) on video production and editing as well as the design and format of the course pages in Canvas.
  • Coordinate with staff from F&ES and SOM to help oversee and implement the administrative side of this effort such as admissions, registration and student services.
  • Oversee all the marketing and communications for the program in collaboration with the associate director of CBEY, staff from the Center for Teaching and Learning and other online professional certificate programs across Yale.
  • In collaboration with faculty members, hire, train and coach teaching assistants working on the program.
  • Design, coordinate and facilitate one week-long in-person program for the cohort of 50-70 participants.
  • While the program is in session, respond to questions from the cohort of students, convene and lead conversations with student project teams, engage and schedule live faculty conversations and coordinate grading and exercises with teaching fellows and faculty.
  • Lead and coordinate existing CBEY programs that train students in professional communications and build the capacity and knowledge of professional networks in clean energy and conservation finance. In particular,
  • The Clean Energy Finance Forum and the Conservation Finance Network.  These bi-monthly and monthly newsletters go out to a growing group of 13,000+ professionals looking for actionable news and insights.
  • Serve as the key point of contact at CBEY for on-campus students interested in clean energy finance and deployment and conservation finance.
  • In particular, students involved in the energy clubs at SOM and F&ES, F&ES students in the Energy and Environment concentration, EMBA students interested in finance/energy and student involved in conservation finance work.
 
Required Qualifications
  • An inclusive and flexible approach to collaborating with a wide range of individuals – tenured and practitioner faculty at Yale, core staff at the Center for Business and the Environment, key staff from different units across Yale and
  • A strong passion for and interest in clean energy, finance, online education and world-class teaching
  • Advanced professional expertise in at least two of the areas listed below
  • Clean energy finance  
  • Clean energy technology / energy systems analysis
  • Energy policy
  • Demonstrated professional experience in at least two of the areas below.
  • Significant experience in curriculum development and delivery at the graduate or professional level
  • Demonstrated understanding and a successful track record of working with faculty
  • Advanced skills in financial and/or energy modeling in Excel.
  • Ability to guide, supervise and coach student project teams
  • Superior writing, editing, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong time management skills and proven ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Exceptional administrative, planning, organizational and project management skills. Proven ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse constituency, including staff, students, faculty, and other community members.
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • A master’s degree or equivalent with a focus on energy or finance.
  • Expertise, interest and a passion for conservation finance
  • Conference planning and coordination
  • At least five years of work experience in finance, energy development, curriculum development, online education or a related field.
