Dr. Markus Lehmann
(Head of Economics & Trade, Convention on Biological Diversity, Montreal)
Markus Lehmann is the Economist at the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), heading their economics and trade programme. He was part of the core team preparing the TEEB report for national and international policymakers, and was the coordinating lead author of chapter 6 of this report, on subsidy reforms.
Prior to joining the United Nations, he held research and teaching positions with the German Institute for International and Security Affairs, with the Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods, and with Free University Berlin. He holds a diploma in economics and a Dr. rer. pol., both from Free University Berlin.
On 10th Nov 2011, Dr. Lehmann will speak on “The Role of Regulations and Subsidy Reforms towards better Stewardship of Natural Capital”, in our module on “TEEB for Policy Makers”.
