The goal of the Southern Landscapes and Livelihoods SIG is to instill in future environmental leaders an awareness of the social, cultural, economic, and political issues facing marginalized communities in the southeastern United States and an understanding of how those issues affect attitudes towards - and management of - the natural environment. Through visiting speakers, field trips, projects, and discussions, students will develop the cultural competency necessary to foster cross-cultural collaboration in efforts to preserve the landscapes and heritage of the southeastern United States.
