We study the dynamics and structure of terrestrial food webs and links to ecosystem functioning.

We focus on plant-herbivore interactions and how they are mediated by carnivores and soil-nutrient levels, both at the level of herbivore foraging ecology and plant-herbivore population dynamics. We use a combination of empirical research and mathematical modeling to understand ecosystem structure and function. We deal with a variety of ecosystems and study species, ranging from seabirds on islands in New Zealand to insects and their spider predators in Connecticut old fields.

Congratulations to Kevin, a National Geographic Young Explorer!

Jennie is in India conducting field research. Look here at a few of her photos from the field!

Dror has accepted a faculty position at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem Institute of Life Sciences. We will miss you, Dror!

Os and Jessica's article on trophic interaction strength scaling to metabolic body mass will be featured in an "In Focus" article in the October issue of the Journal of Animal Ecology.

Jennie was recently awarded a Conservation Endowment Fund Grant from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and Junior Fellowship from the American Institute for Indian Studies.

Watch highlights from Os and Dror's research on grasshopper jumping and development published in Functional Ecology.

Watch Os speak on "The Predator, Prey, Plant Connection" from the FES website.
