Sinharaja Biosphere Reserve and UNESCO World Heritage Site, Sri Lanka. Yale faculty and local professionals restore native forests while balancing the need of the surrounding community to use natural renewable resources for rural development.
The mission of Yale CBCS is to advance global research and education in the field of biodiversity conservation and to increase the extent to which scientific knowledge is integrated into conservation policies and programs. Through natural and social science research, education of new scientists and leaders, and development of cooperative research and education programs with partner organizations, CBCS is helping society understand and conserve biological diversity around the world.
