Professor Khalil is an internationally recognized expert in probabilistic risk assessment (PRA) and its applications in the environmental, chemical, and nuclear fields as well as PRA applications to cyber & physical security vulnerability assessment and green supply chain risk management. His research interests also include life cycle analysis, renewable energy generation and storage, environmental control technologies, and novel design approaches for harvesting energy from the environment and waste-to-energy conversion systems.
Professor Khalil is a recipient of the Senior Moulton Medal from the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) in the United Kingdom. He is also a recipient of numerous international awards from France, Japan, and China in recognition of his expertise in nuclear safety and management of severe nuclear accidents.
