Ground truthing the environmental benefits of a polygeneration system: when to combine heat and power?
This article analyses a case study polygeneration system genereating electricity, heating, and cooling for a university campus, quantifying primary energy requirements, GHG emissions, and particulate matter emissions of three feasible supply systems. In addition in examines when it is preferential or not to use combined heat and power (CHP) to reduce GHG emissions, identifying regions of the US where CHP may or may not be recommended.
