About

Charlie Bettigole is the Program Director for the Ucross High Plains Stewardship Initiative (UHPSI) at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, dividing his time between the UHPSI office in New Haven and our field site at the Ucross Ranch. The Ucross Ranch, located in Ucross, WY (Population: 25) is a 22,000 acre working cattle and sheep ranch with a commitment to holistic range management practices.

With a fantastic team of master's and doctoral students, UHPSI develops quantitative, science-based research to support rangeland management in Wyoming and beyond.  While our research focuses primarily on developing spatial and remotely sensed tools, we've delved into hydrology, grazing, fiber-production, environmental education, avian monitoring, pollinator research, and much more!
