Masters Thesis:
Managing dryland ecosystems for soil carbon sequestration: assessing the potential of western juniper expansion and removalThe project will take Caitlin to eastern Oregon to work with researchers and land managers to explore the impacts of various land uses on soil carbon. Soils store the vast majority of carbon in dryland systems but our understanding about soil carbon processes remains limited. This work will explore soil carbon mechanisms at play in eastern Oregon rangelands. Findings will be presented to stakeholders working in these areas.
Partial funding and support for the project is provided by: Wyss Foundation, David Schiff Foundation, Carpenter Sperry Fund, Eastern Oregon Agricultural Research Center, and Yale University.
