Funding for Student Groups

Each year, SAC allocates $25,000 in grants to Student Interest Groups (SIG) and other student-lead projects. This page contains information on how to apply for these funds, how to spend these funds once your SIG or project receives an award, the funding criteria that SAC uses to make award decisions, and the current allocations to SIGs and other projects.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES FOR SAC FUNDING

To apply for SIG funding through SAC, you need to complete 2 forms (budget template & budget explanation, both forms can be downloaded from this page). Note: each of these should not exceed 1 page.

CRITERIA FOR SAC FUNDING DECISIONS

SAC asks the following questions in making funding decisions on SIG and project funding proposals:

Will the proposal benefit FES students?

Does the proposal apply to a majority of FES students?

Is the proposal likely to happen? (e.g. to what degree have detailed arrangements been made for a particular event, speaker, or activity?)

Can or will the proposal receive financial support from other sources? (this criteria applies more to large conferences or other project activities that are independent of SIGs)

How has the SIG or project spent SAC money in the past?
