About

John Paul Jewell is a second-year student with a focus on international development, conservation finance, and climate change mitigation. John Paul graduated with honors from the University of Chicago in 2006 where he majored in Environmental Studies and Anthropology. John Paul has served as the chair of a pediatrics HIV/AIDS fundraiser and worked as a graphic designer and events programmer for two years. In his first year at Yale, John Paul helped construct John Edwards’s carbon neutral presidential campaign strategy, worked to connect Chesapeake Bay cleanup strategies with regional carbon markets, and developed a website for an Ecuadorian ecotourism project. In the summer of 2007, while working for the Centre for Development Finance at the Institute for Financial Management and Research, John Paul created an assessment program to evaluate the environmental performance of corporations in India. He hopes to pursue a career advancing community-based conservation and development strategies.
