Detailed Description: Professor Dove is analyzing and publishing on the interface between farmer land management, state policy, and tree/forest ecology in Pakistan. He spent four years in Pakistan working (sponsored by US AID) in the federal forest service.

Title: Colonial Perceptions of Nature

Detailed Description: Professor Carpenter has recently completed, in collaboration with Michael Dove, a study of changing Dutch perceptions of nature in the Indo-Malay region during two phases of the colonial period. She plans to widen the theoretical scope of this study for future publications.
