About
Prior to my studies at the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies, I worked for the last six years in South America, most recently as the Program Planning Officer of the World Wildlife Fund in Peru. While at WWF, I was responsible for program monitoring and evaluation as well as planning. I also developed a capacity building program for indigenous communities located next to the Alto Purus National Park in the Peruvian Amazon. Previously, I spent three years volunteering with the Peace Corps in Paraguay. I worked and lived with rural communities, where I facilitated local capacity building and developed a manual about natural resource use in the Alto Parana Atlantic Forest. Here at F&ES, my program focuses on social ecology and issues related to people and forests. With field research in Mozambique and Peru, my thesis focuses on how local institutions employ participatory monitoring and evaluation tools to engage in the decision-making process regarding natural resources. To complement a Master of Environmental Science degree, I am pursuing a Master of Business Administration at the Yale School of Management. I expect to graduate from the joint degree program in May of 2008. Following graduation, I hope to be involved in program management of development and conservation programs in the tropics.
