Internal F&ES Competition: Sabin Fellowship Applications Being Accepted

To address environmental issues on a global scale, it is vital to train and educate young professionals from developing countries, and provide them with the financial resources to return home to implement solutions on the ground.
— Andrew Sabin
Applications from current F&ES masters students, who entered in academic year 2011-2012, are now being accepted for the Andrew Sabin International Environmental Fellowship. This outstanding fellowship will provide up to $35,000 in tuition and post-graduate support to six exceptional students from developing countries. The scholarships will support the education and training of international students from less-developed countries, who intend to return to their home region or country to work in the field of conservation and development.

Andrew Sabin, President of the Andrew Sabin Family Foundation, said, “To address environmental issues on a global scale, it is vital to train and educate young professionals from developing countries, and provide them with the financial resources to return home to implement solutions on the ground.  Many countries in Africa, Latin America, and Asia are on the front lines of environmental impacts from climate change, loss of biodiversity, and forest degradation – I hope that our Fellowships will provide the impetus for smart, dedicated professionals to come to Yale F&ES for an education, and then be able to return home to address these critical environmental challenges before it is too late.”

The Sabin Fellowship is administered by the Tropical Resources Institute, a center at the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies. Complete applications for the 2012 Sabin Fellowship must be submitted by Friday, February 17th at 5 pm.
