SATURDAY, May 17
8:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Symposium: Crises, Opportunities and Politics: What can we really do?

As a community of leaders facing ecological and environmental crises, F&ES alumni/ae are struggling to respond at local, regional and international scales. Our community of scientists, managers, advocates and consultants is vigilantly creating and applying new knowledge through policy initiatives, management strategies and conservation mechanisms. This year we are also anticipating the 2008 U.S. presidential election. Symposium participants will consider such questions as:
- What can be done within the political process?
- What critical needs fall outside of electoral politics?
- How can we more effectively respond—individually and professionally—to these crises? What existing tools are useful and where do we need to be inventive? What can we really do?
