• École Nationale du Génie Rural des Eaux et des Forêts (ENGREF) – ongoing information exchange and faculty, staff, and student visits between the Yale Global Institute of Sustainable Forestry and École Nationale du Génie Rural des Eaux et des Forêts (ENGREF), the French national forestry school in Nancy (where Gifford Pinchot and several other early leaders of US forestry institutions studied).

• Student Field Trip Exchange - a student field trip exchange program has been in effect between the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and the University of Munich, Freising.

• Inventory Techniques Involving Remote Sensing – ongoing research with Scandinavian colleagues on the utility of LiDAR for assessment of forest biomass and change in biomass over time.Recent publications in Canadian Journal of Forest Research, Remote Sensing of Environment, Statistical Modelling and Applications.

UKRAINE:

• Risk Reduction - A cooperative project between the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine, the United Nations University, Global Fire Monitoring Center, and the Yale Global Institute of Sustainable Forestry, to examine the health dangers of wildfires in the forests irradiated by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, and to explore possibilities for mitigation.
