Alexander Buck
Alexander Buck is Executive Director of the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO), the World’s Forest Science Network with headquarters in Vienna, Austria. From 2007 to 2010 he coordinated the Global Forest Expert Panels (GFEP), an IUFRO-led initiative of the Collaborative Partnership on Forests to provide objective and independent scientific assessments of key issues in order to support more informed decision-making at the global level. Alexander studied forestry at the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences, Vienna, and law at the University of Vienna, Austria. Through his employments with the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences, Forest Europe (previously known as "Ministerial Conference on the Protection of Forests in Europe") and IUFRO, Alexander has acquired profound expertise in international forest activities.
