Environmental Education

The mission of the Environmental Education SIG is to raise awareness about how human beings interact with natural environments in a sustainable, mutually-beneficial manner. We look at environmental education both within the school system--from primary to post-secondary—while also broadening our scope to include all efforts to educate the public and other audiences, including print materials, film/media, websites, campaigns, and general outreach. Effective outreach and education not only helps develop future conservation stewards, but helps foster community inclusion, understanding, and appreciation for the natural world. We incorporate a variety of activities including teaching in classrooms, inviting guest speakers, engaging in service-orientated projects, conducting campaigns and outreach, and building networks at Yale and elsewhere.
