Atlantic Salmon Federation - Olin Fellowships

Description: ASF Fellowships are offered annually to individuals seeking to improve their knowledge or skills in advanced fields while looking for solutions to current problems in Atlantic salmon biology, management and conservation. The Fellowships may be applied toward a wide range of endeavors including salmon management, graduate study, and research. Applicants need not be enrolled in a degree program. Award: $1,000 - $3,000
Eligibility: Applicants must be legal residents of the United States or Canada
Deadline: Mid-March (annually)

Connecticut Sea Grant Program

Description: Connecticut Sea Grant supports a broad range of applied research, education, and extension activities aimed at improving understanding, assessment, use, management, conservation, or restoration of marine and coastal resources. Applied projects with clear relevance to Connecticut’s marine and coastal resources are given priority. However, CTSG may also fund research at Connecticut institutions with broader applicability to national marine and coastal issues. CTSG seeks proposals for coastal/marine research, outreach, and education of the highest quality and relevance, and does not explicitly constrain these efforts to predefined topic areas.
Eligibility: Sea Grant support is awarded on a competitive basis, and is available to researchers and educators at all non-profit academic institutions, research laboratories, and outreach/education facilities in Connecticut.
Deadline: Mid-June

Hudson River Graduate Fellowship

Description: The Foundation will award up to four full-time research fellowships to advanced graduate students conducting research on the Hudson River system. Fellowships awarded to master's level students will include a stipend of up to $11,000 for one year, and an incidentals research budget of up to $1,000.
Eligibility: You must a.) be enrolled in an accredited doctoral or master's program; b.) have a thesis advisor and advisory committee; and c.) have a thesis research plan approved by your institution or department.
Deadline: Mid-April (annually)

National Estuarine Research Reserve System - Graduate Research Fellowships

Description: The National Estuarine Research Reserve System’s Graduate Research Fellowship provides master’s degree students and Ph.D. candidates with an opportunity to conduct research of local and national significance that focuses on enhancing coastal zone management.
Eligibility: Applicants must be admitted to or enrolled in a full-time master's or doctoral program at a U.S. accredited university in order to be eligible to apply. Applicants should have completed a majority of their graduate course work at the beginning of their fellowship and have an approved thesis research program.
Deadline: November 1st (annually)

NOAA Coastal Services Center Coastal Management Fellowship

Description: The Coastal Management Fellowship was established in 1996 to provide on-the-job education and training opportunities in coastal resource management and policy for postgraduate students and to provide project assistance to state coastal zone management programs. The program matches postgraduate students with state coastal zone programs to work on projects proposed by the state and selected by the fellowship sponsor, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Coastal Services Center. This two-year opportunity offers a competitive salary, medical benefits, and travel and relocation expense reimbursement.
Eligibility: Any student who will complete a master's, doctoral, or professional degree program in natural resource management or environmental-related studies at an accredited U.S. university. Students from a broad range of environmental programs are encouraged to apply.
Deadline: Mid-October (annually)
