American Museum of Natural History Grants

Description: Modest, short-term awards are offered to advanced graduate students and postdoctoral researchers who are commencing their careers in the fields of zoology, paleontology, anthropology, astrophysics, and earth and planetary sciences. Grants are available from a number of special funds: Frank M. Chapman Memorial Fund, Lerner Gray Fund for Marine Research, Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Fund, and the Collection Study Grant Fund.
Application: Application requirements, eligibility, and other details vary among the grants. Applicants are urged to review their terms carefully. A single application form is used for all grants except the Collection Study Grants. Applications must be submitted by regular mail.

Academia Resource Management (ARM)

Description: Academia Resource Management (ARM) administers Graduate Student Internships/Fellowships to qualified master’s and doctoral degree candidates. The awards are made available through funding from national laboratories, other federal agencies and industries. They provide the opportunity to (a) conduct thesis or dissertation research or (b) explore research and technology career options or gain practical training at a sponsoring facility.
Eligibility: Master’s and doctoral degree candidates enrolled in an accredited graduate program.
Deadline: ARM accepts applications year-round and sponsors make selections until all opportunities have been filled. Summer selections begin in early February.

National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowships

Description: The Graduate Research Fellowship provides three years of support for graduate study leading to research-based master’s or doctoral degrees and is intended for students who are at the early stages of their graduate study.
Eligibility: Your eligibility is reviewed on the basis of the contents of your entire submitted application. The text in the Program Announcement is the only official eligibility guidance you can receive. Read the Program Announcement closely to be sure you are interpreting the eligibility requirements properly.
Deadline: End of December (annually)
