American Chemical Society- Congressional and Science Policy Fellowships
Description: The ACS is offering three fellowships to experienced chemical professionals and recent graduates--two Congressional Fellowships and one Science Policy Fellowship.
For the Congressional Fellowships, the Society annually sponsors two fellows on Capitol Hill who work in the personal office of a Member of Congress, a congressional committee, or a congressional support agency. The fellowship begins in September with a two-week orientation run by AAAS and lasts for one year. The Congressional Fellowship start date can be delayed to January of the following year.
For the Science Policy Fellowship, the Society sponsors one fellow who spends one or two years as a staff member in the ACS Office of Legislative and Government Affairs. The fellowship begins in September.
Terms: Fellows receive an annual stipend in the range of $50,000-60,000, which varies depending upon the fellowship program and the experience of the fellows. Specific funds are also available for relocation, health, and other professional travel.
Eligibility: Fellows are selected on a competitive basis from among ACS members who have: significant familiarity with one of the chemical sciences or engineering disciplines (a graduate degree), a working understanding of the chemical community, demonstrated interest in the public policy process, and past participation in activities of public/private sector organizations.
