Office Assistant—CDO (2 positions)

Participation as a CDO Office Assistant is an outstanding way to develop leadership and administrative skills, gain useful experience for your resume, remain grounded in your own career development during your time at F&ES, and contribute to the graduate student experience overall.
  • Attend training sessions and occasional staff meetings.
  • Work either remotely or in CDO offices posting job opportunities in F&ESNext for 5-7 hours/week as agreed upon.
  • Report to CDO staff weekly on status of F&ESNext email account; alert CDO if there is an overwhelming backlog and/or a dearth of postings.
  • Assist CDO staff in the office on special projects and routine clerical tasks for 3 hours/week during regular weekly hours as agreed upon. Areas of responsibility may include but are not limited to event and program planning, marketing and communications, as well as data management and system operations testing.
  • Assist CDO at workshops, career panels and other events including job treks as needed.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and follow-through.
  • As this is a very independent position, we are seeking candidates with excellent time management skills.
  • Must be conscientious and willing to learn F&ESNext thoroughly, through CDO training session and independently.
  • Microsoft Office Suite and basic web design/updating experience preferred.

New Position! Office Assistant, Programs and Communications—CDO (1 position)

We are looking for an experienced program and communications assistant to work with the Senior Associate Director.
Responsibilities include:
  • Provide a high level of support for planning and implementation of FESinDC, our annual 2-day event in Washington, D.C.  This includes (but not limited to!):
    • Scheduling and co-hosting FESinDC Interest Meeting in October
    • Managing student selection of top employer choices using Google doc
    • Compiling/creating top 20 list of student choices
    • Outreach to individual employers to arrange site visits
    • Creating and managing schedules
    • Creating platform for and monitoring student site visit registration
    • Sending and tracking e-mail confirmations to employers and students
    • Attend FESinDC as a CDO representative to host site visits
    • Support staff with logistics as needed
  • Provide support for employer outreach for the All Ivy Environmental and Sustainable Development Recruiting Fair (fair held March 1, 2019)
  • Provide support for major CDO programs
  • Work closely with Senior Associate Director to create content and schedule social media posts
  • Update web resources annually, including Environmental Job Sites page, Environmental Professional Associations, and job and internship listings on Employment Profiles page
  • Design infographics using Canva
  • Experience planning complicated multi-day programs for 100 or more people
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • High level of comfort reaching out to alumni and employers
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and independent follow-through
  • Able to work remotely during winter recess as needed on FESinDC
  • Able to travel to Washington, D.C. in February for FESinDC
  • Social media campaign experience
  • Experience with FaceBook, Twitter, Instagram, Hoot Suite, Canva, Microsoft Office Suite

Office Assistant—Peer Career Advisor, CDO (2 positions available)

CDO is looking for candidates with highly developed writing skills to provide supplemental resume and cover letter reviews during individual review sessions.  PCAs receive training in cover letter and resume review and work regularly scheduled hours in Kroon cafe for drop in reviews.
  • Schedule and meet with students for individual resume, cover letter and personal statement review.
  • Hold regular drop-in hours each week, to be agreed upon with CDO supervisor.
  • Advertise/develop/promote PCA services.
  • Learn the F&ES resume template and tutor students in its use.
  • Keep records of review sessions and create a report for CDO staff each semester.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills in English.
  • Prior resume/cover letter review experience desirable.
  • Ability to learn FESNext system.
  • Proven ability to work independently.
  • Previous professional work experience.
  • Knowledge of environmental careers a plus.
5-7 hours per week
