Peer Career Advising and Peer Mock Interviews

We're Hiring!

We are looking for candidates with highly developed writing skills to work as Peer Career Advisors.  The PCA program offers supplemental resume and cover letter review services through qualified peers during individual review sessions.  PCAs receive training in cover letter and resume review.



  • Schedule and meet with students for individual resume, cover letter and personal statement review.
  • Hold regular drop-in hours each week, to be agreed upon with CDO supervisor.
  • Advertise/develop/promote PCA services.
  • Learn the F&ES resume template and tutor students in its use.
  • Learn the F&ESNext resume book submission process and tutor students in its use.
  • Keep records of review sessions and create a report for CDO staff each semester.


  • Excellent writing and communication skills in English.
  • Prior resume/cover letter review experience desirable.
  • Ability to learn F&ESNext system.
  • Proven ability to work independently.
  • Previous professional work experience.
  • Knowledge of environmental careers a plus.

  • Drop In Hours Scheduled Each Semester When Classes are In Session

Mock Interviews.

Peer Mock Interviewers (PMIs)

  • CDO offers supplemental mock interviews with peers while classes are in schedule, as announced.  Experienced peer interviewers will be available by appointment for half hour mock interviews all year when classes are in session.
    • Hours: TBA
    • Professional dress for your field.
    • Interviews to be held in Kroon 102 unless otherwise notified.

PCA (Peer Career Advisor) Cortney Ahern

Cortney is a secon year MEM interested in agriculture and food security. Before coming to F&ES, she spent 7 years working for non-profits and think tanks at the intersection of food access, agricultural development, and community engagement. Cortney’s appetite has guided her from her home state of Minnesota, to apprenticing on a family farm in New York, to catching red ants in the jungles of northeastern Thailand. She’s looking forward to serving as a Peer Career Advisor and encouraging her classmates to discover their future career paths!

PMI (Peer Mock Interviewer) Peter Ludwig

Peter is a second year MESc interested in community conservation and social justice.  Before coming to F&ES, he spent 7 years in hazardous waste and environmental waste consulting in New York City and 10 years running energy efficiency programs in affordable housing for Elevate Energy in Chicago.  He is excited about leadership, team dynamics and organizational development.  Peter has a background in geology and environmental science and has done ecological and geological field work in Tanzania, New York City, the Rocky Mountains & Nova Scotia.  He is excited to get to know his fellow F&ES peers and hopes to be helpful in their next steps.
