Individual, confidential career counseling is available by appointment and through weekly drop-in hours.

We encourage students to schedule appointments during the first term of the first year, and as often as needed. Students are invited to seek general advice on career development, employment opportunities, skills assessment, networking strategies, career exploration, cover letter and resume review, job search strategies and resources, and orientation to CDO resources.

Individual Appointments

Meetings with Director Peter Otis and Associate Director Kathy Douglas can be scheduled through Mariann Adams in Kroon 103, by phone at 203-432-5126 or through email at mariann.adams@yale.edu. Alternately, email Peter at peter.otis@yale.edu and Kathy at kathryn.douglas@yale.edu directly, or stop by to schedule appointments.

Peer Career Advisors (PCAs)

In addition to reviews by CDO's professional staff, trained Peer Career Advisors (PCAs) offer resume and cover letter review for F&ES students during weekly office hours and via e-mail.  Students can drop by to meet with advisors during their weekly office hours or request an alternate time via email. All conversations are confidential.

Ellen Arnstein is a first year MEM taking a break from the job market where her professional experience is largely in environmental education and urban forestry, with a not-too-brief foray into scientific editing. At F&ES she hopes to transition into social ecology and international reforestation issues.
