Career Development Office Happenings
It’s January and the beginning of a new semester at F&ES. New Haven is blanketed with snow…but that doesn’t mean summer isn’t on many students’ minds! This is the time of year when first year FESers are thinking ahead to summer internships and second years are searching for full-time jobs. Fortunately, the Career Development Office (CDO) is available as a valuable resource to help students work on their career goals.
CDO is taking this time to shine. There are many treks, workshops, funding resources, and offerings taking place. A mandatory meeting for first year students occurred this week to discuss summer funding for internships and research projects. The office also announced that registration opened for the 13th annual All-Ivy Environmental and Sustainable Development Career Fair taking place on March 4 in New York, NY. But the most important event that CDO is preparing for is the upcoming job trek to Washington, DC on February 11 and 12.
A job trek, for those who don’t know, is a learning experience for students that allows them to visit companies/organizations and network with potential employers. Careful planning has gone into the F&ES DC trek, and thanks to hardworking student volunteers the visit is bound to be a success! Students are currently applying to be selected for on-site interviews and considering participating in specific trek modules. There will also be an opportunity for students to meet with alumni/employers at a dinner co-sponsored by F&ES Alumni Services.
Another student job trek will take place on February 26 to Unilever headquarters to visit with the company’s innovation design staff. As summer and graduation approaches, CDO will offer even more resources to FESers. Stay tuned for exciting events!
