Yale named top fire science school for women!
We are excited to announce that Yale was recently named as a top 10 fire science school for women by Fire Science Online. Check out the rankings here.
From Fire Science Online:
Fire Science Online – today’s #1 resource for fire science education and career information – has identified the 26 Most Popular Fire Science Degree Programs for Women. The list recognizes the colleges and universities across the country with significantly higher-than-average rates of women in their fire science and forestry programs.
Of the programs analyzed by FSO the average percentage of female students was 10%. We selected only schools that had at least double the average. The complete list of criteria is:
• Must have at least 30 active students enrolled
• Of these, at least 20% must be female
• Various fire science and forestry programs reviewed
• Fully-accredited schools only
• Public and Private schools included
• U.S. colleges only
“Fire science is just one of many areas in which women are typically outnumbered by men, but maybe they’re outnumbered because they are scattered,” said Matt Davis, Managing Director of Fire Science Online. “With this list we wanted to highlight the colleges where women in the field gravitate.”
