When to Do It

Before You Leave New Haven

Connect Say “See ya later” to the CDO staff – but not “Goodbye!” F&ES alumni have the same access to CDO services and resources as students.
Network Join a regional listserv if you’re heading to New York (Google Group), Washington, D.C. (Yahoo Group), or San Francisco (Yahoo Group).
Network Join your local Yale Club – no matter where you’re going.
Connect Send your contact info to the Admissions Office if you are interested in serving as a contact for prospective and admitted students.
Connect Register with AYA.
Great Mountain connect Send your non-Yale email address to the F&ES Office of Development and Alumni Services.
Connect Link with us! Join the group “Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies” on LinkedIn.
Give Make your contribution to the Class Gift. Like all donations to the Annual Fund, the Class Gift supports student scholarships at F&ES.

Year 1

Connect Landed your first job? Started a graduate program? Send a class note! We’ll include it in CANOPY.
Connect Complete CDO’s job survey in November.
Network Host a veggie dinner for F&ES alums and new friends in your area. Need some inspiration? Browse the F&ES Alumni Cookbook (coming soon).
Network Visit the F&ES Alumni networking page to find an event near you.
Network Post a discussion to the F&ES LinkedIn group.
Volunteer Check out a Yale Day of Service site in May. Don’t see one near you? Start your own!
Give Join the Great Mountain Society – simply by making a contribution to the F&ES Annual Fund by June 30.

Year 2

Connect Baby on the way? Adopted a puppy? Send a class note for CANOPY!
Connect Have an internship opportunity at your organization? List it on Branches
 
Connect Send a note to your faculty advisor to say “hi” – they love to hear from you!
Connect Connect with Admissions about upcoming recruitment events, and participate in recruiting events in your area as an alumni speaker.
Network Come back to campus to meet with a Student Interest Group.
Network Check the F&ES Calendar for talks, lectures and seminars – some are broadcast online! 
Volunteer Volunteer in your community.
Give Support financial aid for current students – and stay in the Great Mountain Society – by making your contribution to the F&ES Annual Fund by June 30.

Year 3

Connect New job? Update your LinkedIn profile, and then send a class note! We’ll include it in CANOPY.
Connect Alert Admissions to (a) any colleagues you may have who are interested in F&ES, (b) connections you have to organizations or (c) schools that might serve as a good ground for building relationships for student recruitment.
Network Host a TGIF in your area – and tell us about it
Connect Explore alumni profiles on the F&ES Web site.
Connect Come back to campus for a CDO talk
Connect And stay for a Yale Forest Forum event
Volunteer Don’t forget about the Yale Day of Service in May. 
Give Make sure an F&ES education remains accessible to all students by making your contribution to the F&ES Annual Fund by June 30. Remember, all Annual Fund gifts go directly to student scholarships!

Year 4

Connect Be an ambassador for F&ES – recruit new students by letting the Admissions Office know that you could conduct informational interviews for prospective students from your community.
Connect We miss you. Send a class note for CANOPY.
Connect Have an internship opportunity at your organization? List it on Branches
Connect Haven’t seen anyone from F&ES lately? Find out who lives near you by asking the alumni office for a list.
Volunteer Invite fellow alums to join you in your volunteer service.
Give Don’t stop now! Stay in the Great Mountain Society by making your contribution to the F&ES Annual Fund by June 30.

Year 5

Connect Finished that book? Received an award? Send a class note for CANOPY to impress your classmates before Reunion Weekend.
Connect Complete the Pre-Reunion Survey to tell us who you want to see and what you want to do when you get back on campus.
Connect Moving again? Help us update our address book! 
Network Help arrange TGIFs in your area for admitted student in late March and early April to connect local alums with new community members.
Network Talk with the Career Development Office about mentoring current students and new graduates. (Remember when you were one of those?)
Network Recruit your classmates to meet you in New Haven for Reunion Weekend. We’re looking for volunteers.
Network Come back! Join your friends at Reunion Weekend in the fall – and spend the night at Great Mountain.
Give Receive recognition among your peers for your consistent support of F&ES.
