Environmental Publishing and Communications

The communication of environmental ideas is an important skill for all members of the environmental field including natural and social scientists, business people, and law and policy advocates. The Environmental Publishing and Communication SIG (EPC) aims to increase student, faculty, and staff awareness of the role that media plays in the dissemination of environmental knowledge and understanding of scientific ideas in the public sphere.
To this end, EPC organizes events and workshops that aim to increase the knowledge and technical expertise of the FES community in all areas of communication. Guest speakers include experienced scientists and journalists who can offer critical insights into the communication and dissemination of environmental concepts. EPC coordinates advanced workshops to develop practical communication skills such as editing, layout design, and web publishing. EPC also partners with SAGE Magazine to give students first-hand experience with a variety of skills necessary to produce a professional publication.
EPC actively encourages the participation of all students, both undergraduate and graduate, and from all the schools of Yale.
